1. Locate the water filter in the top-right corner of the refrigerator compartment and open the cover door. The filter will be released and then be ejected as the door is opened.
2. When the door is completely open, pull the filter straight out.
NOTE: There may be some water in the filter. Some spilling may occur. Use a towel to wipe up any spills.
3. Take the new filter out of its packaging and remove the covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed.
4. With the arrow pointing to the left (toward the filter cover door’s hinge), align the new filter with the filter housing and slide it into place. The filter cover door will automatically begin to close as the new filter is inserted.
5. Close the filter cover door completely in order to snap the filter into place. You may need to press hard.
6. Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes at .5 gpm (about 2½ gallons) to clear the system and prevent sputtering.
NOTE: Initial rate may be slower than expected. Full rate should be restored within 24-36 hour
7. Reset the “replace filter” light, if needed, by holding the reset button for three seconds.

What a difference! I am very impressed with these Whirlpool filters!! The water tastes great with no impurities. Better than my GE filters I had before.

I've been using one of these for a few months. I no longer drink bottled water. Before I did not like the taste of our water, with this filter it tastes great. I LOVE that they donate part of the proceeds to bring fresh water to people that don't have it. Changing peoples' lives! I support charities that do this also, you should to if you can.

I have an old side by side Kenmore fridge and was trying to find a filter that didn't cost too much, but still filtered everything out. This filter does the trick perfectly, fit like OEM, and tastes great!

We had used a competing product, but after a while the other product really slowed the water down from the water side of the refrigerator. I read in the manual that this brand was really made for Whirlpool and I made the switch and now we have great water pressure.

Does what is supposed to do. Before, if I filled a waterbottle with water and finished it then left it there for a few days, I'd smell it and it'd smell like mildew. Now it doesn't do that so its great.

Purchased filters in past with them and plan to continue in future. Had to replace the filter on our Fridge & Freezer with this. Water quality coming out is amazing after a couple months of use so absolutely no complaints. Pricing on Clatterans was highly competitive to local vendors and since the first order came through without a hitch, why change?
For those that receive their filter without the instructions, it asks for you to fill the filter up with cold water first over the sink, then screw it to the fridge. Once done, run about 5 minutes of water through it before drinking. This is to ensure that the filter is fully saturated with water and thereby effectively filtering and to purge itself of any loose bits and pieces of the filter material out.
How often should you replace your water filter?
- On average, most filters last 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
How do I turn off my filter light to reset?
- If the filter light will not reset after following specific instructions from your owner manual, contact your refrigerator manufacturer.
Do the gaskets (o-rings) on the filters need to be lubricated?
- Most water filters come with pre-lubricated O-rings
- If you are having trouble installing the filter, we have found that a small amount of vegetable oil applied to the O-ring will ease installation and removal of the filter.
I just installed my filter; do I need to run water through it before I drink the water? If so, how much?
- You should run 3 gallons of water through your filter in order to flush it and make sure that it is thoroughly wet. Do not run the 3 gallons continuously, instead run the water for a few minutes and stop in between. Get a gallon water container, and pour and refill 3 times!
