Locate the accessory packet in the refrigerator and remove the water filter.
2. Take the water filter out of its packaging and remove the cover from the 0-rings. Be sure the 0-rings are still in place after the cover is removed.
NOTE: There may be some water in the filter. Some spilling may occur. Use a towel to wipe up any spills.
3. Align the arrow on the water filter label with the cutout notch in the filter housing and insert the filter into the housing.
4. Turn the filter clockwise until it locks into the housing.
NOTE: If the filter is not correctly locked into the housing, the water dispenser will not operate. Water will not flow from the dispenser.
5. While the compartment door is still open, lift the filter up into the compartment Then, close the filte compartment doo completely.
6. Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes at .5 gp(about 2.5 gallons) to clear the system and preven sputtering.
NOTE: Initial rate may be slower than expected. Full rate should be restored within 24-36 hours.
7. Reset the "replace filter" light, if needed, by holding the reset button for three seconds.

If you have a Whirlpool refrigerator, this is the best filter one should consider. I tried a competitor's and it leaked, didn't fit well and ended up returning them. This filter works perfectly, albeit, could be more reasonably priced.

Perfect fit water filter for our Whirlpool Fridge. Easy to replace the current filter 2 and took less than a minute. You will have to run a lot of water through it though to clear out air bubbles and it was roughly about 3 gallons worth.

I didn't come across any problems now. I installed it and flushed a few gallons through first. The water comes out just as the old EDR2RXD1 and tastes great. Pretty darn expensive than the old one.

There is some cloudiness after the first flush due to the carbon. After a couple galloons, the cloudiness is gone. The filter is ready to go. I did notice better drinking water quality. Depending on how much water is dispensed, this filter should last up to 6 months. It is easy to install and the price is fine.

Good filter. Water is visually clear and tastes clean. Price is a bit pricey but lasted us about 6 months so not bad. I do wish it had a clear area for one to see how much dirt it has filtered out from getting into your glass. Easy to install.

I flushed it out as the instructions stated and the water has been great. I'm not sure if the fridge makes new noises or they're just noises that I didn't notice before. Plan to purchase the filter 2 again when need be.
How often should you replace your water filter?
- On average, most filters last 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
How do I turn off my filter light to reset?
- If the filter light will not reset after following specific instructions from your owner manual, contact your refrigerator manufacturer.
Do the gaskets (o-rings) on the filters need to be lubricated?
- Most water filters come with pre-lubricated O-rings
- If you are having trouble installing the filter, we have found that a small amount of vegetable oil applied to the O-ring will ease installation and removal of the filter.
I just installed my filter; do I need to run water through it before I drink the water? If so, how much?
- You should run 3 gallons of water through your filter in order to flush it and make sure that it is thoroughly wet. Do not run the 3 gallons continuously, instead run the water for a few minutes and stop in between. Get a gallon water container, and pour and refill 3 times!
